The first 30 pages cover resources: a list of Euripides' most taught plays, an essay on translations, several bibliographies of recommended readings (subcategorized for convenience), and audiovisual and computer-based resources gathered from the website, drjclassics.com. The second section offers 16 classroom approaches. For example, students assigned to write their own Greek dramas, perform the plays, imagine ancient performance practice, apply Aristotle's Poetics to Euripides, and use Aristophanes (in whose plays Euripides occasionally shows up as a character) to illuminate Euripidean drama. Like most MLA publications, this is a valuable tool for the English classroom. Annotation c. Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)
