Sandy Dolnick, founder and newly retired executive director of Friends of Libraries USA (FOLUSA), is the foremost authority on volunteer support through Library Friends groups. A leading expert on library advocacy and fundraising, she spent her career encouraging community volunteer supporters of libraries. She continues as an active supporter of Friends groups and other community organizations. Editor of the classic Friends of Libraries Sourcebook, Dolnick became executive director of FOLUSA in 1985. Under her leadership, FOLUSA grew to more than 2,500 Friends groups reaching one million members in 50 states while offering a comprehensive program of education, information and advocacy.
