About the Author:
Paul Hyland is Head of the School of Historical and Cultural Studies at Bath Spa University College. He is a specialist in eighteenth-century studies and has taught and published widely in literary, historical and cultural studies. In 2000 he became the first British historian to be awarded a National Teaching Fellowship.
