Emerging Cognitive Neuroscience and Related Technologies

The Committee was charged with identifying areas of cognitive neuroscience and related technologies that will develop over the next two decades and could have military applications that might be of interest to the intelligence community and more especially to the overlap of military intelligence. The report reviews the current state of neurophysiological and cognitive/neural science, highlights work that could be of interest, applies the warning methodology developed in the 2005 report Avoiding Surprise in an Era of Global Technology Advances, and suggests how research in various countries may affect the Committee's assessment.
