"An Educational Ambassador To the Near East" provides a compelling account of the life and legacy of Mary Mills Patrick and her transformative work at the American College for Girls in Constantinople. Written by Hester Donaldson Jenkins, this biographical work explores the profound impact of Western educational ideals in the heart of the Ottoman Empire during a period of significant geopolitical transition. The narrative details the challenges and triumphs of establishing an institution dedicated to the intellectual empowerment of women across diverse ethnic and religious backgrounds.

By chronicling the decades of service Patrick devoted to her mission, the work highlights the intersection of educational diplomacy, social reform, and the evolving role of women in the early twentieth century. The volume serves as an essential record of international cooperation and the enduring power of education as a bridge between cultures. It offers valuable historical insights into the evolution of global education and the pioneers who sought to foster cross-cultural understanding through academic excellence and dedicated service. This work remains a significant resource for readers interested in the history of the Middle East and the development of higher education for women.
