Author biographies

Baljit Nijjar read Business Studies before moving into a career in English as a Second Language. After teaching in Japan and Indonesia, she lectured at Leeds Metropolitan University for four years and then moved to Cornwall. She taught English to Speakers of Other Languages at Cornwall College and now focuses on writing ESL materials.  She has a Certificate and Diploma in ESL and is also PGCE qualified. She is Principal Examiner for the Edexcel International GCSE ESL Reading and Writing Paper.

Janet Searle started her career teaching ESL/EFL to both school students and adults in Switzerland, where she also taught German and French as foreign languages. She has been a part-time teacher of MFL to GCSE and GCE levels in the UK for the best part of 25 years. Janet is a Senior Examiner for GCSE, I nternational GCSE and GCE German and International GCSE ESL with Edexcel and significant experience writing examination materials and delivering training for teachers. She has also co-authored textbooks for GCSE and GCE German.
