For each of some 70 questions there is an explanation, be it geological, mineralogical, astronomic - whatever the field, the evidence is carefully presented and explained so that even those with little knowledge in these fields can understand the processes that have been at work. The book is vividly illustrated with full-colour photographs and diagrams of the subjects under discussion.
Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Terence McCarthy is Professor of Mineral Geochemistry at the University of the Witwatersrand. He has wide research interests in the earth sciences, including economic and environmental geology, geochemistry and geomorphology; he is a leading expert on the geology of wetlands, especially the Okavango Delta in otswana; and is co-author of the acclaimed book, The Story of Earth and Life.
