At 5 AM on a sweltering August morning along Florida's mysterious Tomoka River, KO's routine work day transforms into something extraordinary. A single decision to investigate an unusual splash in the pre-dawn darkness sets in motion a chain of events that will challenge everything he thought he knew about the swamps he's called home his entire life.

Deep in these ancient waterways, where Spanish moss drapes over murky waters and legends still lurk in the shadows, KO discovers something that shouldn't exist. Now he faces an impossible choice: walk away and pretend he never saw it, or risk everything - including his own safety - to protect a secret that's existed alongside humanity for generations.

But KO isn't the only one harboring secrets about the Tomoka River. Cooper, a one-footed former park ranger living on a houseboat, has his own terrifying tale about what really lives in these swamps. Twenty years ago, he survived an encounter that left him as the sole witness to both unimaginable tragedy and inexplicable mercy. Now, past and present are about to collide in ways none of them could have predicted.

As development threatens to encroach on the wilderness, KO races against time to protect not just an extraordinary discovery, but an entire hidden world that challenges everything we think we know about what's really out there in the unexplored corners of our world.
