The Benko Gambit is a great opening for those who like active play. Black sacrifices a pawn in order to activate his pieces on the queenside, and generally gains enduring pressure. It has been played by recent world champions like Veselin Topalov, Vishy Anand and Garry Kasparov, and is a popular choice with amateurs all over the world. Grandmaster Sergey Kasparov, who has extensive experience with the Benko, presents a complete repertoire for Black, with many new ideas and improvements on existing theory. This book is accessible for the average club player but stronger players, too, will learn many things they didn’t know.
Críticas:
Sergey Kasparov's introduction is very instructive and written in a witty and engaging manner. He presents very thorough coverage of all standard Benko lines before moving on to the rarer ones. There's also a section on White's attempts to avoid the Benko altogether. Strong club players will feel at home with the material given in this repertoire book. Dynamic play is guaranteed! --Marshtowers Chess Reviews
Kasparov describes strategic plans quite well. --Robert Ris, ChessVibes
Kasparov sets out his ideas with good humor, anecdotes and sensible words of wisdom. This is the type of book that many readers desire.--Grandmaster Glenn Flear
Kasparov's explanations are clear and concise, and he doesn't go overboard with variations.--Joe Petrolito "Australasian Chess Magazine "
