The Driver

A coming-of-age story meets a domestic thriller. Thirty-year-old Duncan Connor, fast behind the wheel and quick with his fists, washes up on a Greek island - hungover, sunburnt, and covered in mosquito bites. Can things get any worse? Certainly. The police are looking for him. It's 2010. Years earlier, a forbidden romance born of tragedy spiralled into violence, forcing Duncan to leave the north east of England for the continent. He roamed Europe as a roadie and drifter, chasing noise and numbness. But some cycles repeat no matter how far you run. In Greece, he finds love again - along with a new fight, this time against far-right nationalists Golden Dawn. As past and present collide, his belief that life isn't linear, but cyclical is put to the test. In the end, confronting his demons involves a murder, a horrific car crash, and a choice: to bury the past or risk everything for redemption.
