And why do you believe that you were the chosen one? This wasmy response to Dr. Mashaal when he told me the story on July 4about what he had eluded to in his e-mail of June 23. That messagehad arrived in my e-mail just prior to his leaving Europe for Canadahaving spent six months there. The major purpose of that e-mailwas to ask me if I would phone his automobile insurance companyand inform them of his arrival in Canada on July 2. I was to askthe company to re-instate his auto insurance commencing that day.However, it was the closing paragraph perhaps that his excitementshowed through. It read: An interesting story happened to me recently.No one will believe it. It is one of the extremely rare happening.I shall tell you details when I see you. So I was left for a week towonder what this unbelievable event could be. It sounded like thisyear's message would be much happier than last year's. The latterwas about the accidental death of his 41-year old daughter, Monika.
On July 4, he came to my home for help to launch his newlypurchased cordless mouse for his computer. Over a cup of coffee, heexcitedly told me about the extremely rare event that was occurringin his life. I listened with amazement that anyone as intelligent ashe could get caught in such a deceitful scam. After a moment ofsilence, I spoke up and gave him my response as I quoted above.Then, to his utter surprise, I suggested to him that this was a scamin which the other party was taking his money under false pretencewith the excuse that the purpose was to pay for certain clearancecertificates so he would gain much more money. His reply left mestunned! It appeared that my suggestion had not made any mark onhim. He simply refused to believe me, showed annoyance at mysuggestion of a scam, and repeated that these people were his friendsever since he had received Linda Morgan's first e-mail of April 24.In that, she had offered to transfer her family inheritance to him,US$10.5 million. He said that very recently Linda had inherited thatmoney due to the tragic deaths of her parents and two sisters in anautomobile accident in Africa. As she was expected to die soon, shewanted to transfer this money to him so he would do good works;that is, help the poor. And with that, he left my home.
Following is the very urgent letter that Dr. Mashaal receivedfrom Ms Linda Morgan in which she asked him to accept herinheritance and with it carry out good deeds to the poor in the world.

I have been given 21 working days by the finance companyfor the collection of the deposited item before it will beconfiscated. I will appreciate your utmost confidentialityin this matter until the task is accomplished, as I don'twant anything that will Jeopardize my last wish. From e-mails that Dr. Mashaal turned over to me four monthslater, I became aware that his so-called friendship really beganon May 8 when he opened Linda's very urgent message of April24. Late that evening, he read Linda's fantastic offer and repliedimmediately. (See message below.) That was approximately twomonths before he told me of his pending good fortune. Note inthe above message Linda had requested three times not to discussher offer with anybody as this must be kept with absolute secrecyand personal.

After reading Dr. Mashaal's reply to Linda's offer, probably youhave formed some impressions. A believer? Very greedy? Naive?Very trusting? Or ...?
You will notice that Linda's reply shown below was dated May14, but it made reference to your e mail dated 24 April 2007. Thisappears what might be the first indication that more than one Africanperson was handling this money transaction. Some people used allcapitals while others used mostly small letters, even for the pronounI. You can observe from the e-mail above that the date was that ofthe first offer to the doctor from Linda, not his letter of acceptancewhich was sent on May 8. For something as urgent as Linda hadstated, her reply was not returned until six days later. Perhaps it tookthe Ghanaian group near a week to get organized after receiving thedoctor's positive reply.
In studying Linda's offer, it appears that Dr. Mashaal hadmisinterpreted her kind offer as his share to be $10.5 million.However, you will see that she actually offered him 40% of the totalsum after the money had been successfully transferred to a safecountry. Dr. Mashaal never mentioned the amount four million twohundred thousand US dollars ($4,200 thousand US). Once he didspeak of 40% but otherwise he always spoke of the total amount,$10.5 million. After explaining her condition, Linda mentioned thatshe was the only surviving person and nobody else that will inheritthis money because they are now dead.

Although Mashaal had already supplied Linda Morgan with hisname, address and telephone and fax number in his first reply on May8, as per her request, he repeated these and added his Swiss bankname and account number in his message of May 15. This informationshould ensure that the $10.5 million that he believed he was to inheritwould be transferred to Switzerland soon. He also told her that he didnot require this money for personal use as he has a very high incomefrom United Nations. However, he would welcome the money so hecould help many organizations and people in other countries.
In his reply, he offered Linda a cancer cure that he truly believedin. She had mentioned in her first communication that bone cancerhad been discovered during surgery she underwent due to theautomobile accident. That is the accident in which she had lost herparents and two sisters. In addition, he offered to send her a copy ofa book that he had recently published.
