When their school bus dies on a backroad south of Taos, New Mexico, a young couple washes up on the wrong side of a COVID-era ditch — on land legally inherited by five dogs, and possibly horses too. The dogs’ human, well-resourced yet disinherited, hopes to found a final theology for these last of human days. What she needs is someone to actually dream it up for her — in exchange for the right to continue occupying space.

A satire of American spirituality and exploitation, Dogmen of the Dust asks what separates a calling from a collar — and whether the only creatures too confused to lie might be the only ones telling the truth.
