When tragedy strikes and kills his father and grandfather on a winding Tennessee mountain road, thirty-one-year-old Kevin Northrup suddenly finds himself the last surviving member in a long line of funeral directors of a family owned funeral home. Left to carry on his family's legacy in Weaverville, North Carolina, Kevin must shoulder the burden of grief, duty, and survival as he manages Northrup Funeral Home and Cremation Services and the Asheford Cemetery, and a community that depends on him. At the heart of his legacy of service lies The Director's Rose - a lavender rose tipped in red, a symbol of dignity and remembrance that Kevin delivers to every grieving family. But as corporate giants hover and organized crime invades his life and business, Kevin learns that honoring the past while protecting the future will demand more courage than he ever imagined. A powerful novel of family, faith, and resilience, The Director's Rose reminds us that even in the challenge of sorrow, beauty and hope can bloom.

Byron Winn has been a funeral director and embalmer for almost thirty years. The idea for The Director's Rose came to him while he was an apprentice in mortuary school in 1994.
