"The Diary of a Samaritan" offers a unique and compelling glimpse into the humanitarian efforts during a tumultuous period in American history. Written by William L. Robinson, presumably in collaboration with the Howard Association of New Orleans, this diary provides a firsthand account of the challenges and triumphs of providing aid and comfort to those affected by the social and political upheavals of the time.

Published around 1859, the diary sheds light on the crucial role of organizations like the Howard Association in addressing the pressing needs of communities. Through Robinson's detailed entries, readers gain insights into the daily struggles and acts of compassion that defined this era. This historical document serves as a valuable resource for understanding the social fabric of 19th-century America and the enduring spirit of volunteerism and human kindness.
