Excerpt from How to Detect Counterfeit Bank Notes: Or, an Illustrated Treatise on the Detection of Counterfeit, Altered and Spurious Bank Notes, With Original Bank Note Plates, Engraved Expressly for the Work, by Rawdon, Wright, Hatch Edson, Bank Note Engravers, of New York
IN presenting the third edition of this small volume to the public, I have found no occasion to modify or ex punge any of the principles laid down in the earlier editions; on the contrary, I have received gratifying evidence, not only of their practicability, but also of the facility with which pupils, through their instrumentality, became, in a short time, accurate judges of bank notes.

As I stated, however, in the earlier editions of this treatise, and wish to state again.
