I was very excited to see that Chris Mitchell, the Middle East bureau chief for the Christian Broadcasting Network (CBN) has just released this book. I was very blessed to be able to read a pre-publication review copy. I cannot more highly recommend this book, (or anything that Chris has written). For the past fourteen years, Chris has lived in Jerusalem, reporting from the front lines all over the Middle East. This book goes to the heart of the matter, addressing current events unfolding now throughout the region and giving solid application for how Christians are to respond. It isn't every day that an eyewitness to today s most explosive Middle East conflicts eloquently records his adventures and then shares them with the rest of us. For years, Chris Mitchell has been the Middle East Bureau Chief for CBN News, based in Jerusalem. And in recent months he has intrepidly made his way from one international hot spot to another from a bloodstained murder site in a quiet Israeli neighborhood to a dusty Iraqi village where ISIS is lurking in the shadows; from a desecrated Coptic sanctuary to a secret house church where newly-baptized Iranian coverts radiantly celebrate their new lives; from a sprawling refugee camp in Kurdistan to a stunning archeological dig in Galilee. Mitchell has posted TV reports from all these places and countless more. But now, in an extraordinary page-turner, Destination Jerusalem, he takes us on a breathless journey along with him. As gifted a writer as he is a reporter, Mitchell describes the sights, sounds and smells of war and its victims elusive yearnings for peace all this in locations most of us can only imagine. Thankfully, he has depicted one site after another in stirring detail, always viewed through the lens of his authentic Christian faith. Chris Mitchell leads us into the presence of such world leaders as Vladimir Putin and Benyamin Netanyahu, Barak Obama and others. He weighs their words against scriptural authority; he positions their earthly powers against a backdrop of biblical prophecy. And then, with no less attention, he also introduces us to weary warriors, unsung heroes, terrified children and broken-hearted survivors. And for a few poignant moments we are able to glimpse the world through their tearful eyes. The explosive nature of today's Middle East is, for most of us, both intriguing and terrifying. If you're in search of a deeper insights into this troubled region, Destination Jerusalem is the book you have been waiting for. Not only is it a must-read, but once you open the cover, author Chris Mitchell has made sure that you won't want to put it down until you've finished reading the very last page.--Lela Gilbert, Author Saturday People-Sunday People, Blind Spot, Adjunct Fellow at the Hudson Institute
