Kali Kahana is preparing to return to her home on a remote island in the South Pacific aboard a forty-five-foot sailing catamaran. The boat has been fitted with a fully-equipped surgical suite so she can bring modern medicine to her Polynesian people for the first time in their history. Her teenage daughter chose to skip the voyage and has flown ahead to spend time with her grandfather on the island while she searches for information on her biological father.

The missionary priest with a dark past who forced Kali to leave the island fifteen years earlier is determined to prevent her from ever returning. He has engaged a ruthless criminal who will do anything to stop her. An approaching tsunami forces Kali to set sail into a summer storm to save her boat as well as the life of a mysterious acquaintance. His true intentions slowly emerge as they are driven offshore but there is no turning back.

As she sails into the South Pacific hurricane season, Kali must rely on the strength and wisdom of her ancestors to keep from losing her home, her child, and her life.
