He has published extensively on modern Spanish artists, especially Dali and Picasso. He has taught at the Univesitat de Girona, Spain, Princeton University, and the University at Delaware. His essays have appeared in many publications including Picasso and The Spanish Tradition (Yale 1996) and the exhibition catalog for Early Picasso at the National Gallery of Art, Washington, 1997.
