Fame made him a star. Darkness wants him destroyed.
Everett Lester is a millionaire rock star living the dream. His metal band rockets from dive bars and honkytonks to sold-out arenas after a mega-popular record label launches them into superstardom. But behind the lights and screaming fans, Everett is unraveling—haunted by depression, numbed by drugs and alcohol, and desperate for something to steady his fractured soul.
In search of answers, Everett turns to a celebrated psychic in Los Angeles. What begins as spiritual guidance quickly becomes something far more sinister.
Then, an unexpected voice cuts through the darkness.
Letters arrive from a young woman in Topeka, Kansas, who claims she is not a fan—but a friend. She is praying for him. And her faith may be the only thing standing between Everett and total destruction.
When a mysterious murder shocks the nation, a high-profile trial unfolds in courtroom B-3 of Miami-Dade County, Florida. With the world watching, the truth behind fame, deception, and spiritual warfare is finally exposed.

Reader praise for Dark Star5 STARS. Loved it! What a great book. I started reading about 5:30 pm and at 1:45 am finally put it down so I could get a few hours of sleep before work. Came straight home to finish the last 50 pages. It definitely has some darkness and describes the battles we can face day to day. It also delivers a great message of enduring faith - what a great message! This is my 5th Creston Mapes book, and I have yet to be disappointed.
5 STARS. My favorite book so far of Creston Mapes. I read a trilogy first that was really good so bought this one to try. I was drawn in quickly to the characters and story line and liked the way it was written like memoirs. It was very believable. Sometimes Christian fiction isn't a true to life depiction of how one comes to Christ but this definitely was. I plan on getting the next book in the series!
5 STARS. A great read. I don't read books much, but this book had me begging for more. I just couldn't put it down. Awesome story from start to finish. Looking forward to reading the next part.
5 STARS. Totally worth the time to read . . . Once I got accustomed to the writing style, I couldn’t put the story down. Author Creston Mapes has earned another follower.
5 STARS. A Must Read. This book personified the battle between God and Satan for our souls. Can’t wait to read more of his books.
5 STARS. Very inspirational, intriguing, couldn't put down!
5 STARS. Total page turner! I especially loved this book because I am a metal fan and was in bands and went to plenty of concerts "back in the day." . . . It's worth noting that I am not a fan of "Christian" entertainment because it's really dorky. I do consider myself to be a Christian and I love the idea of the Spiritual Thriller genre . . .
Dark Star is eminently readable. Yes, there is some Christian-speak in it but it is limited, appropriate, and not jarring or tedious. The superb narrative is hurt not one bit by it. In fact, I found it comforting . . . So this story rang true to me on many levels. Can't recommend it enough! I'm already 90% through the even more intense sequel.
