From the earliest days of Christianity, Mary Magdalene has been the subject of controversy, rumor and innuendo. Yet the historical Mary was neither a prostitute nor the wife of Jesus. This book reveals, in detail - with glossary, maps, charts, endnotes and lengthy bibliography - why the Church suppressed the theology associated with Mary; Why the feminine understanding of God was condemned as heresy; How Mary challenged the legitimacy of patriachal Christianity; How the canonical Gospels altered the tradition of Mary; and, What Mary Magdalene really saw on the first Easter Sunday.

Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor
Richard Hooper received his BA in Philosophy of Religion from San Francisco State, and his Master of Divinity degree from Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. He was ordained by the American Lutheran Church and conducted a ministry on the Monterey Peninsula, California. Richard left the ministry in 1978 to become a nature recordist and radio commentator. He subsequently founded the Nature Recordings and World Disc Music record labels and was CEO of World Disc Productions for over a decade. Throughtout his business career, the author has maintained his interest in the continuing "quest for the historical Jesus", and his studies in the field of Gnostic Christianity and the early Church. Richard is a UPI columnist for their religion and spiritual forum.
