Andre Gorz was born in Austria in 1924 and died in a suicide pact with his wife in France in 2007. After moving to Paris in 1948, he became an economic journalist and later an editor of Les Temps Modernes. He was one of the founders of Le Nouvel Observateur and wrote for it under the pseudonym Michel Bosquet for some twenty years.
