Inhaltsangabe: Present-day country doctoring comes to real life in "The Country Doctor Alive and Well" by John G. Hipps, M.D. In his new 384-page book, Dr. Hipps shares his experiences of being a country doctor - whether in the mountains of Pennsylvania, the Ethiopian escarpment, or with the Black Foot people of the Dakotas. Discover how Dr. Hipps fights the conventional medical establishment and becomes a maverick helicopter doctor for the people. This book is a treasure of exciting and inspiring real-life encounters with people from around the world.
Über den Autor: Dr. John has been a medical doctor for forty years after preparing himself with three years as a World War II U.S. Navy Corpsman, an Allegheny College biology and chemistry major, a University of Pennsylvania medical student, a Wilmington, Delaware Hospital intern, and a University of Pittsburgh Medical Center resident in occupational and environmental medicine.
The doctor has taken his commonsense and compassionate approach to medicine, coupled with the spirit of the country doctor, from the rural Allegheny Mountains to the Dakota and Montana Indian country, the African countries of Ethiopia and Sudan, the Pennsylvania Correctional Institutions, and back again to Rainbow's End Nature Sanctuary in Cameron County, Pennsylvania. He provides consulting services for occupational, environmental, alternative, and holistic medicine as personal physician to individuals and families, family doctor to the workplace (employee and employer), and as country doctor to the environment.
The doctor and his wife live, work, and love there, offering sanctuary to indigenous wild plant and animal life and to patients, friends, and acquaintances. Rainbow's End is a multidimensional center for promoting the physical, psychological, and spiritual well being of humankind, the earth, and the universe. Personal Health Services include:
Comprehensive General Health Assessment
Chemical Toxicity and Sensitivity
Personal Injury Evaluation
Worker's Compensation Evaluation
Future plans include onsite workshops and seminars on a wide variety of subjects; i.e., landscape design with native shrubs and wildflowers, healthy homes and buildings, nature photography and writing, environmental aesthetics, the magic of the daytime sky, and the mystery of the sky at night.
