Krista is good at being understanding. When her boyfriend, Jared, works late. When their plans change. When something more important comes up. She loves him, and relationships take compromise. But lately, she's wondering why she's always the one with an empty evening and a reason she shouldn't be upset about it. At least she has Theo. Her best friend is the person she can call about absolutely nothing and somehow spend an hour talking to. They have their routines, their inside jokes, and years of knowing exactly how to make each other laugh. With him, she never has to wonder whether he wants her around. Theo has gotten good at keeping one thing from her. Being her friend has never been all he wanted. But she's with someone else, and his feelings are his responsibility. He won't make them hers. As Krista begins to question how much of herself she's willing to keep setting aside, the future she once felt certain about becomes harder to picture. For once, she wants to figure out what would make her happy before worrying about what everyone else needs. She hadn't expected that to change the way she looks at Theo. Or to find herself wondering whether there's something he hasn't been telling her. Counting Kisses is a contemporary friends-to-lovers romance featuring years of quiet yearning, a hero who falls first, and a heroine learning she's allowed to want more-with no cheating, no third-act breakup, and a happily ever after.
