During the Covid-19 Pandemic, the threshold of the sacraments met the walls of secular panic. In The Cotton Ball Confirmation, the author recounts a defining moment of spiritual initiation: the Rite of Confirmation. Expecting the timeless, apostolic laying on of hands-a physical, skin-to-skin transmission of the Holy Spirit-the author instead encountered a sterile barrier: a disposable cotton ball. This book is more than a personal narrative; it is a piercing theological examination of how institutional fear in the Church replaced the "armor of faith" with the "mandate of fear". By placing a physical buffer between the bishop's consecrated hand and the forehead of the believer, the Church signaled that worldly safety took precedence over the unhindered administration of God's grace. Key Themes The Theology of Touch: An exploration of why the sacraments require physical proximity and the danger of treating the shepherd as a bureaucrat and the flock as a biohazard. A Child's Faith: A return to the standard of a child's trust, which demands an Almighty, All-Powerful Protector rather than a God limited by worldly caution. Righteous Judgment: A call for the laity to discern the "fruit" of institutional actions, distinguishing between necessary pastoral care and the spirit of corporate anxiety. The Path of Holy Defiance: A guide for reclaiming the unhindered anointing in a time when many institutional structures have compromised their spiritual identity. A Field Manual for the Soul This book is intended for those who refuse to accept a faith that hides behind synthetic barriers. It is a call to stand firm in the clean logic of Scripture and Canon Law, reminding the faithful that the gates of hell-and the panic of the world-shall not prevail against the Church. Reclaim the touch of the divine. Reject the fear of the world.
