Computer Integrated Manufacture (CIM), is now included as a subject in several curricula in Indian Technical Institutions.
Since the advent of the 8 bit microprocessor, automation has slowly replaced the manual control of machine tools, and has also led to the interfacing of Work stations with Machines in factories.
With the advent of high speed internet and IOT the field of CIM has now become more important because factories and work stations in remote locations can be linked globally, to produce components and items sequentially or simulataneously as required.
