The instinctive character of this pattern could be an opportunity to analyze, detect, and even predict changes in health and cognition. Parameters for gait can be utilized as attainable clinical markers to determine the risk of functional decline for neurological pathologies such as Alzheimer’s and dementia without invasive detection systems. Beyond neurological pathology, gait can be related to cardiovascular disease due to its involvement during physical effort. Numerous technological devices are being developed to extract beneficial data from individual gait patterns. These existing technologies can be used to detect changes in people’s gait patterns, especially in older adults. This information could be used to further support the detection and analysis of parameters related to changes in mobility, cognition, and frailty. This monograph delves into three chapters: Gait Analysis Background, Technologies Available for Gait Analysis, and Pathological Implications of Gait. These chapters aim to provide a framework for gait analysis and its parameters, with insight into the technologies available for monitoring specific parameters at varying levels.
