Part of a series of focused subject glossaries which aim to provide a guide to all the key terms relevant to the A Level and GNVQ syllabuses within the subject area, this handbook provides a guide to all the important terms in physical education. It has been written with the Year 2000 syllabus needs of AS and A2 Level Physical Education in mind. Mirroring the syllabus, the text concentrates on three theoretical areas: anatomy and physiology; social, historical and cultural issues; and skill acquisition and psychology. Each entry begins with a clear one-sentence definition, and is followed by explanation and examples. The more important the term, the more detailed the entry. Entries are cross-referenced to enable students to build up knowledge of particular topics for use in essay writing and in answering exam questions.
