This anthology started out as a challenge to the Fairford u3a Creative Writing group to each create a short story set at a location well-known to the residents of Fairford and the surrounding villages. We enjoyed reading each other’s stories so much that we returned to themes ‘close to home’ throughout the next year. The stories include historical fiction set amongst the many pubs and churches, romantic fiction in different guises, a ghostly steam engine and several adventures. We have also included a chapter of poetry inspired by local landmarks.
