<b>Jay Matthews</b> is an educatuion reporter for The Washington Post adn a winner of the National Education Reporting Award. He has served as the Post's bureau chief first in Hong Kong and then in Bejing and Los Angeles. He is author of Escalante: The Best Teacher in America, among other titles. Matthews and his wife, Linda, have three children and live in the suburbs of Washington, DC.
