Über die Autorin bzw. den Autor: Andrew Murray was born in South Africa in 1828. His father and mother were missionaries with the Dutch Reformed Church. When he was ten, he and his older brother, John, were sent to Aberdeen, Scotland, to school. There they stayed with their father's brother, a well-known minister associated with the Free Church, and highly interested in revivals. It was this close association with strong men and women of God, and intimate knowledge of what God was doing throughout Scotland and America, that convinced the boys to enter the ministry, much to the delight of their parents in South Africa. So in 1845 the Murray boys left Scotland for Holland to begin theological studies at the University of Utrecht. Andrew was seventeen at the time. On May 9, 1848, after Andrew and John finished their university studies, the Hague Committee of the Dutch Reformed Church ordained them both. Andrew was 20 years old, the youngest candidate for the ministry ever ordained by that church. They returned to South Africa to pastor churches. Revival eventually broke out in Andrew Murray's church that brought about a turning point in his Christian life and pastoring.
