The Challenges of Nongovernmental Organisations in Anglophone Cameroon

Focusing on two provinces in the central African nation of Cameroon, Fonjong compares the promises of large non-governmental organizations(NGOs) with the their actual performance in such issues as forest management. He finds that the larger international NGOs often compete with regional, national and local agencies, the result more often that not being waste, frustration, increased deprivation and lack of unity. Although he feels the larger NGO leaderships have their hearts in the right place, he also finds that sometimes the mix of methods, theories and ambitions overwhelms the problem or issue.
