The book is outcome of the Ph.D. work during which a large number of cestode parasites were collected from freshwater as well as marine fishes and birds from Mumbai (Arabian Sea, West Coast of India), Aurangabad, Paithan (Godavari river) and Kolhapur areas of Maharashtra. The book comprises of two parts of which the first deals with the cestodes of fishes of the orders Pseudophyllidea, Proteocephalidea/ Tetraphyllidea and Lecanicephalidea. The second part consists of the cestode of birds of the orders Uavaineidea, Anoplocephalidea, Hymenolepididea and Dilepididea. The cestodes described in this book belong to nine families including 18 genera and twenty-five species in 25 chapters. One new species of Amoebotaenia, one new species of Cotyiorhipis as a first record from India, one new species of Lateriporus, two new species of Neoliga, one new species of Suresnla and one new species of Valipora as a first record from India are described from Dilepididae order.

Dr. Sandhya Kadam (b. 1955) M.Sc. Ph.D. (Zoology) is working as In-charge Principal, Dnyanopasak College, Parbhani, Maharashtra, India. She has to her credit 3 books and 20 research papers published in Journals. She worked on the Bhogaon Reservoir from Parbhani District Maharashtra from the point of view of desilting, deweeding & hydrobiology.
