Cats are truly majestic animals, whether viewed in the wilds of the jungle or curled up asleep in front of the fire at home, and in this book they have provided the inspiration for 18 versatile designs that capture their beauty. Wild cat lovers can recreate, among others, a breathtaking portrait of a lion surveying his territory; a tiger emerging from foliage; or the delicate features of a serval cat, one of the more unusual, smaller wild cats. For those who prefer their cats on the tame side, the designs include a picture of a contented ginger tom draped over the arm of his favourite armchair; a siamese kitten chasing a butterfly across the front of a waistcoat; and a stunning white chinchilla designed as a bell pull. Cat owners will enjoy stitching up a range of small motifs such as a mouse, goldfish and pawprints, into a collection of accessories for their own cat: a collar, catnip toys and a beanbag bed. There are full colour charts and photographs, and the text is embellished with watercolours by Jayne Netley Mayhew. The techniques section provides information on starting and finishing work, as well as valuable thread hints and tips to make this comprehensive book a real source of guidance and inspiration for all cat lovers and stitchers.
