Artikelbeschreibung des Verkäufers

Hardcover, folio. Full leather, with raised cords on the spine. Title label says 'Cases in Equity.' Two additional labels on the spine, both handwritten. One said 'Mattingly,' the other says 'Talbot.' Measures approx. 9 x 13 inches. 286 pages + lengthy tables at the end (index). Leather worn at the edges. Boards held on by cords. Text block good and tight. Pages toned, as expected. Bookplate on the inside front cover with the name George Lee Turberville. Also coat of arms and 'Virginia.' A fascinating association. George Lee Turberville lived in Westmoreland County, Virginia during the Revolutionary War. He served in the VA House of Delegates after the war. He famously corresponded with James Madison on issues pertaining to the Constitution and Bill of Rights during 1788 and 1789 & he had expected to be nominated to the Constitutional Convention himself, but he was not selected. 18th century Virginia bookplates are scarce & this lawbook with a connection to the writing of the Constitution has an impeccable pedigree. Please email with questions or to request photos. Extra shipping will be required for international or priority shipping because of the size and weight of the book.…
