Über diesen Titel

CAROLINE After the worst flood to ever hit Oregon City, her house was in desperate need of repair. But the December storm brought a bigger problem: two orphaned babies--in desperate need of a mother's love. DANIEL He came to fix a leaking roof...and discovered a pretty young widow whose strong spirit in this time of trouble impressed him deeply. Caroline was determined to honor her promise to the twins' mother--and was already planning to make their first Christmas as joyous as possible. And Daniel had made a promise of his own: to forget the pain of his first marriage and move on with his life. Still, as the holiday drew nearer, the two were drawn more closely to each other. For even the strongest and most independent hearts need mending sometimes...

Life can be hard on settlers in Oregon's Willemette Valley, and no one knows this better than Caroline Dobbs. Caroline, a widowed seamstress, takes in a pregnant widow, only to find herself a new mother of twins a few days later. Daniel Grey, a carpenter and furniture-maker, pressed into service repairing flood damaged homes and businesses begins work on Caroline's home. Over the time it takes to finish repairs Caroline and Daniel become friends. Only one secret threatens to tear their relationship apart. I personally thought this was a sweet tale, much along the line of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman. If you are looking for sparks and lots of fireworks, this book isn't for you. This is a wonderful story about the kindness and generosity of others which seem to mean the essence of romance and true friendship. Ms. Wood does bring to life the sights and sounds of daily living in Oregon at the end of the trail. She also has a talent for creating genuinely good and decent characters who come together to form a solid union of souls.Ms. Wood has penned a story of such heartwarming sweetness, that it will truly move the reader. Ms. Wood takes us back to the time when decency was the soul of romance! Ms. Wood shows that romance in ordinary life can be glorious!Gloria Lower -- Copyright © 1994-97 Literary Times, Inc.
