Über diesen Titel
This unique, twelve-book series provides some of the most cutting-edge information about technology and Internet careers available today. Designed in a readable and dynamic format, this series is a must-read for high-low audiences interested in learning about the future world of e-commerce and the Internet. Clever, up-to-date language helps young people familiarize themselves with Internet-related terms, while colorful photographs illustrate the people and places that have helped create the new Information Highway. Engaging, modern, and thoroughly useful, The Library of E-Commerce and Internet Careers will inspire anyone searching for a technology or business career.
Internet technology careers are soon expected to comprise nearly 50 percent of the job market with today's teenagers at the forefront of that percentage. Hovanec, an IT professional, explains the exciting opportunities that are now open for young people in the new, globalized economy. She explores what it means to write, research, edit, design, and control the content of Web sites for the purposes of e-commerce and beyond. Current career information outlines the multitude of job choices, using and defining terms common only to the Internet. Teens are instructed in different methods that make the most of their high school careers if they are considering a future in computer technology. From School Library Journal:
Grade 5-8-These titles provide background information for students interested in becoming either "e-tailers" or e-commerce content providers. One of their biggest flaws is that they do not address the recent bust of the dot-com industry and subsequent layoffs, resulting in a glut of young computer professionals. That said, there are still plenty of teens hoping to enter the field and these books will provide them with the basics necessary to make wise career choices. Each book includes a history of the career, who needs the services it provides, different specializations within each field, and how to get started. Lists of Web sites, books, magazines, and organizations to contact for more information are included. While the illustrations do little more than add color to the pages, the sidebars and personal stories provide interesting snapshots of real life. The books are most appropriate for a middle-grade audience, but the higher age range may be turned off by the large print and open format.
