Captivated by a Familiar Face

The story is centered around Lucas. A college fraternity brother, who went home for the summer to see his mother get married. However, the woman he thought was his mother, was actually his childhood nanny, Loretta Vaughn, who was hired by his parents. When he was 8 years old, she abducted him from his parents and took him to Connecticut to raise him as her own child. Lucas is the heir to the McVain Magazine Empire in France. His parents, Howard and Constance built the empire and intended to turn everything over to Lucas when he came of age. However, with greed in her soul, Loretta abducted him and waited it out for his parents to pass, in which she would have Lucas killed, so she could inherit everything from him.
His mother Constance passed away 4 years after his abduction, due to a heart attack, while Howard passed away during Lucas’s second year of college. Before he passed away, Howard entrusted the task of finding Lucas and ensuring his safety, to his cook's son Marcus, who is a police officer. While Lucas was a child, Marcus would always visit and help his mom out, while helping out with Lucas as well. They would have hired Marcus as a nanny for Lucas, but his mother thought he should have a woman’s care. After discovering Lucas’s DNA after he was in an accident during college, Marcus was able to find him and figure out where Loretta was hiding. He initiated a sham marriage to her and masqueraded around as Lucas’s stepfather in order to protect him. All while falling hopelessly in love with Lucas in the process of ensuring his safety, Marcus was at a crossroads of what to do. He couldn’t blow his cover and alert Loretta that he was onto her. Although he knew he couldn't deceive Lucas and potentially drive him away.
Confused by the whole thing entirely and not knowing about Marcus’s identity, Lucas attempted to not fall for Marcus completely. However, he kept having flashbacks about knowing him in a previous time and place. Thus making it exceedingly difficult to not have feelings for him. He tried to mask those feelings by starting up something with Zachary Shaw, a crush he had in high school, but no matter how hard he tried to resist Marcus, Lucas was hooked and there was no going back after the first night he had spent with him. When push came to shove, Marcus was able to come clean about the whole thing, and with letters from his parents and discovering who Loretta really was, Lucas was able to forgive Marcus for not telling him everything from the beginning, and he was able to decide on who he truly wanted to have that relationship with. After Loretta was put away, they went to France where his parents' magazine empire was located and began transitioning everything into his name. While doing so, Lucas also reconnected with Marcus’s sister, and he was also introduced to the people at the London office. They worked with Lucas’s parents prior to their passing and each one of them said how much Lucas resembled his parents. All while Lucas was full of tremendous doubts about everything, with reassurance from Marcus and his friends, and the people from the London office, he was able to put aside his insecurities and become the magazine mogul he was born to be. Everything happens for a reason and in Lucas’s mind, everything happened because of Marcus. He had it all. His own business, a close circle of people who cared about him, and a loving partner in Marcus. In Lucas’s words, he had truly found his corner of the sky.
