History and Discovery of the Species
The Turkey Vulture is one of the most recognizable scavenging birds of the Americas, known for its broad wings, soaring flight, dark plumage, and bare reddish head. Although they shared similar scavenging habits with those birds, later scientific understanding revealed that New World vultures followed a separate evolutionary path.
As ornithology developed, the Turkey Vulture was formally classified and studied in greater detail. Scientists learned that its scientific name is Cathartes aura, a name often associated with purification or cleansing because of the bird’s role in removing dead animal matter from the environment. Researchers documented its range, breeding behavior, feeding ecology, migration patterns, and sensory abilities. One of the most important discoveries was its exceptional sense of smell, a rare ability among birds and one of the main reasons it can locate hidden carcasses beneath forest cover or vegetation. Returns Policy
We ask all customers to contact us for authorisation should they wish to return their order. Orders returned without authorisation may not be credited.
If you wish to return, please contact us within 14 days of receiving your order to obtain authorisation.
Returns requested beyond this time will not be authorised.
Our team will provide full instructions on how to return your order and once received our returns department will process your refund.
