In A Broken Window, Anne Leigh Parrish gives us Sam Clark, a poet haunted by the shadows of her past. Sam channels her emotions into verse, hoping to find peace and strength, but when she falls into a new relationship with Steven-a professor, seemingly wise, and full of promises-she's unsure if happiness is something she truly deserves. As the couple moves to Boston for Steven's academic sabbatical, Sam is ready for a fresh start. However, the city and her relationship soon reveal complexities she hadn't anticipated. Amid her personal struggles, Sam connects with the son of the publisher Steven is researching, an older man who helps navigate her memories. With poetry as her anchor, Sam begins to distinguish who will stay beside her as she confronts the pain of her childhood-and who will fade away.
