Inhaltsangabe: Brain injuries of different types and aetiologies often produce a behaviour disorder which may interfere with or directly prevent rehabilitation taking place. Many therapy staff hold a negative attitude to the brain-injured patient, whom they perceive as unmotivated, unco-operative and threatening. This attitude is often due to uncertainty about how to manage clinically these behaviour problems in a rehabilitation setting. This book begins by describing the variety of behaviour problems which arise as a consequence of brain injury, and discriminating between disorders of behaviour which are organically or neurologically mediated from those where a psychological reaction to the consequences of the injury is the predominant factor. The author proposes that a "neurobehavioural" perspective is the most appropriate for understanding the issues. Subsequent chapters describe clinical management, including use of the physical environment, disorders of attention, and personality reactions. Case illustrations are given and it is shown that significant improvements can be made with patients several years after the injury.
