Body Story

Body Story takes the reader on a fantastic voyage through the most fascinating organism on earth: the human body. Using critical events familiar to us all, it brings to life the incredible unknown landscape of the body's interior.
The story of a mother-to-be helps us to understand the widespread effects on a woman's body when a new life vies for control. A childhood accident illustrates the body's miraculous power of self-repair. A singer infected with the flu virus demonstrates how our bodies become battlegrounds as our immune system attacks the invader. A young man on a night out reveals the truth about our most mysterious organ - the brain - and in particular its response to alcohol and sexual arousal. A middle-aged man with heart disease, illustrates many of the problems our hearts face and helps us to know how to combat them. Finally, an older man prepares for the end of his life and we see how the body gradually slows and eventually each of our organs shut down.
