A Chance Meeting Leads to New Adventures
Kaya Reed has survived her college ordeals and is finally marrying her longtime boyfriend, Grayson Pike, in Wisteria. But on her wedding day, she has an unexpected and uninvited guest: her father, Peter. At the same time that Kaya and her brother Graham are learning the bizarre and barely believable reasons why their father left eight years earlier, Kaya is also working on deciding what comes next for her and her new husband. Something has come up that will get in the way of her plans to attend the police academy, so she must consider her next steps carefully.
Alice Telman, a young woman who can sense when someone is lying, is working in the District Attorney's office in Florence, the next town over. She is dealing with her own issues: her parents have died, she is slowly losing her vision, and her ex-boyfriend, Tony, still has his heart set on a future with Alice. Along with her giant dog Ponyboy, Alice is trying to figure things out, while also trying to find out what is going on with local emancipated minor, Brad McHale, who has been panhandling in the park, and lying about the reasons why.
One day at the medical center, Kaya and Alice physically run into each other on the stairs, and something literally shocking occurs. Suddenly, they know that they must find each other again and talk about their mutual experience, as well as their special skills. When Kaya and Alice get together, it sets off a chain of events that will lead the two women to a lifetime of friendship and adventure, as well as intrigue and danger, but they wouldn’t want things any other way.
