Spillane is a master in compelling you to always turn the next page. New York Times

On the streets of midtown Manhattan, Mike Hammer saves a kid from a mugging, only to find himself targeted by kingpins of the narcotics trade. In a New York of flashy discotheques, swanky bachelor pads, and the darkest alleys, Hammer deals with idealistic docs and desperate dopers, sexy hippie chicks and heartless hit men, meeting the changing times with his timeless brand of violent vengeance. Originally begun and outlined by Spillane in the mid-60s and expertly completed by his longtime collaborator Max Allan Collins, The Big Bang is vintage Mike Hammer on acid . . . literally.

Sentences are packed with gritty detail, action scenes have more kicks and slams than a championship karate playoff. Kirkus Reviews
