Born and raised in Chicago, Mike Royko (1932–1997) produced more than 7,500 daily columns for the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, and the Chicago Daily News. He also wrote numerous books, including the acclaimed Boss, a critical biography of Richard J. Daley and the Chicago Democratic machine. He won the Pulitzer Prize for commentary in 1972.
David Royko is the oldest son of Mike and Carol Royko. He is a licensed clinical psychologist and the director of Family Mediation Services of the Circuit Court of Cook County. He has written about a range of topics, including autism, music, divorce, and his family, for publications such as the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Sun-Times, the New York Times, and Parents Magazine.
