Über diesen Titel

Built in 1215, not long after the coming of the Normans to Ireland, Baltimore castle has in the course of 800 years reflected in its changing ownership the shifting fortunes of Irish history. The castle, known in Irish as Dún na Séad (the Fort of the Jewels), has now been lovingly restored by the author and her husband, and in this book she reveals the story not only of a building, but also of its owners, its inhabitants, its demise and its rebirth.

About the Author:

Bernie McCarthy and her husband Patrick restored Dún na Séad castle in Baltimore, County Cork, Ireland, and have lived in the building since 2005. As a result of the necessary research to facilitate the restoration of the building, the author became acutely aware of its occupants and owners, their failures and successes. This interest led the author to study for an M.Phil degree in University College, Cork, and complete a dissertation on the building. This book is the result of her research.
