The August Assassin is the true story of one of America's premier counter-terrorists. The book recalls the numerous operations undertaken to rid the world of some of the most notorious terrorists and brutal dictators known to exist. It begins deep in the jungles of Southeast Asia in 1966, and takes the reader along on a dizzying global odyssey highlighting those operations through 2003. If you have ever wondered what really happened to people such as Idi Amin, Abu Nidal, and Pablo Escobar, as well as a host of others across the globe, this book will answer those questions. And if you've ever wondered if the United States, Israel, and other countries, really employs assassins, this true story will take you behind the scenes of the Department of State and Mossad, and into the consulates and embassies on five continents. John Elliott is the August Assassin. Of "The August Assassin," Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, in a recent statement from Caracas, said, "In 2003 I promised to send the proof. The proof has now been sent to me - this book is the proof. This American killer, an emissary of the devil, was one of those tasked with my destruction. He failed to act, and is lucky to be alive. He was shrouded in treachery, and was a scourge to our Colombian friends, but his luck will soon end." The quote was obtained from a source within the Venezuelan embassy in Washington, DC, and translated from the Spanish. Former Minnesota Governor and ex-navy seal, Jesse Ventura, recently said that there is, "A small minority within the government that does this. Let's just hope their sights are aimed at the enemy."

John Chapman Elliott, JD, was a bomb disposal technician, and conducted criminal investigations for Interpol. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in business, an MBA, and a Juris Doctorate degree.
