We live in space and time forming our environment. “AI Science and Technology Part D: AI Science and the Environment“ provides a comprehensive, and in depth presentation of the relation between Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Information Technology (IT) and mother Earth from various perspectives: Life Sciences, (Bioinformatics, Biology, Epidemiology, Animal Intelligence), Environment (Agriculture, Earth Sensing, Meteorology, Climate studies and Geoengineering), man-made constructions (smart cities, autonomous transportation) and natural resources (renewable energy, earth resources, space technologies), to name a few. It heavily debates the impact of AI and IT on each of these domains. It answers many difficult and timely questions, like the following ones:
- Is life due to matter complexity?
- Do animals have intelligence and consciousness?
- Can we create intelligent transplants or artificial organs to cure diseases?
- Can we patch parts of our brain?
- Is climate controllable through Geoengineering?
- What is the future of smart cities and grids?
- Can humanity progress without resorting to energy-intensive technologies?
- Is Space the new wild-West for economic development?
It is the fourth part of the four volume (part) book/encyclopaedia covering all aspects of Artificial Intelligence together with AI Science and Technology (Part A), AI Science, brain, mind, and humans (Part B) and AI and its impact on society (Part C).
