Everyone loses someone close, but for Cassie Whittler, her grandmother's death marks a closure and a beginning, a time of reflections and projections. Cassie is removing the tangible memories from the house she grew up in after her mother's death and then brought up by her deaf grandmother. She is now preparing the house for her son and granddaughter to move into following the death of her daughter-in-law, a house to be transformed into the home where they build new bonds. Set in the 1950's in the fictional rural community of Stoneridge, Georgia, these twenty-six, connected short stories transport the reader to an era where simplicity was the norm, love and concern of your neighbors mattered, and standing up for what was right was the standard by which all families lived. Addictions, disabilities, intergenerational differences, and changing times are the conflicts battling The Golden Rule this family faced and continue to face as they move forward.
