America Reconstituted: Revampi

Two and a half centuries ago, the Colonies declared independence from Great Britain. Thus began an experiment in self-rule that gave birth to the greatest nation on earth. To set the stage for this experiment, the brightest minds in the Colonies gathered in Philadelphia in 1787 to construct a set of guiding principles, the U.S. Constitution. Once ratified, this relatively short document both liberated and restrained Americans to become the best they could be. Requiring only 27 amendments, the document has stood the test of time.

Or has it? At times, our constitutionally mandated government seems mired in inefficiency and dysfunction. Is the Constitution to blame? Has it failed to adapt?

The time has come to rework this nation’s supposedly timeless document. In this book, we dust off the cobwebs, heed lessons learned over 250 years, and suggest a few tweaks.
