Excerpt from Acts Passed at the Annual Session of the General Assembly of the State of Alabama: Begun and Held in the City of Tuscaloosa, on the First Monday in December, 1844
Whereas, sundry citizens of the Town of Huntsville, have petitioned the General Assembly to pass an act so altering the Preamble. Act incorporating said Town, as to give the election of Town Constable to' the people: And, Whereas, sundry other citizens of said Town have petitioned the General Assembly against the proposed alteration.
